Office relocation project plan template
Moving an office is a classic waterfall project: a lease has to be signed before the fit-out, the fit-out has to finish before the move, and the move has to happen before the old space is handed back. Miss one hand-off and everything behind it slips.
This plan lays the whole move out as a work breakdown structure, with the dependencies that tie it together. Use it as a checklist for your own move. How the plan fits together
Build-out drives the move
Contractor build-out is the longest task on the critical path: any delay to it delays the move, day for day.
Network starts partway in
Network & phone install starts a week after build-out starts — a start-to-start link with a week of lag — rather than waiting for the builders to leave.
Furniture lands at the end
Furniture delivery finishes when build-out finishes — a finish-to-finish link — so it arrives as the space is finished, not weeks into a building site.
Some work has room to slip
Update address everywhere is off the critical path: it has float, so it can slip without moving the move.
